SCUtils Email Connector's connection settings for popular email platforms
We periodically receive requests about the SCUtils Email Connector’s connection settings for popular messaging platforms. I’ve decided to post about the connection settings used for those email systems.
First of all, I have to mention that the connection settings of the on-premise systems could be changed on the server side. So it’s a good idea to check the settings with your email administrator.
Before you begin, please make sure that IMAP or POP protocol is enabled for the email account you try to connect.
Despite the fact that SCUtils Email Connector was initially designed for non-Exchange systems, most of our customers use it with Microsoft Exchange infrastructure.
Please check that you have enabled IMAP or/and POP3 protocols in the Gmail mailbox settings:
Then check the Configuration instructions:
Using the above-mentioned settings, test the connection.
Microsoft Office 365
Please check the following Microsoft article to get an additional information about the connection settings for IMAP or POP3.
Outlook.com is a free Microsoft service that has many similarities with Office 365. However, the connection settings are different:
Please make sure that POP3 protocol is enabled for the email account if it's required.
Of course, I have presented the default settings only for few email systems and you could name many others. Just note that all email services support IMAP protocol. However, some of them do not support POP3 like Apple iCloud but I cannot blame Apple because POP3 is a very outdated thing and we always recommend the customers to use IMAP to automate Microsoft System Center 2012 Service Manager with an email platform of your choice using the most advanced email connector on the globe named SCUtils Email Connector.
Have a good connect, friends!
